What is Nicarbazin?

The official answer: Nicarbazin is a complex of dinitro homodiphenylurea and hydroxy dimethyl pyrimidine. It is a yellow or yellow-green powder; odorless, slightly odorless. It is slightly soluble in dimethylformamide and insoluble in water, ethanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and ether. It is used to prevent coccidiosis in chickens and turkeys.

What’s the application of Nicarbazin?

Nicarbazin is mainly used to prevent cecum coccidia (Eimeria flexneri) and heap type, giant, toxic, Eimeria brucei (small intestine coccidia) in chickens. According to the test, the medication within 48h after infection with coccidia can effectively inhibit the development of coccidia, and if the medication is used later than 72h, the effect is significantly reduced. The recommended dose of semicarbazide has little or no effect on the body’s immunity to coccidia. In addition, coccidia resistant to aminoglutethimide is still effective with it.
