Clearing heat, moistening dryness, detoxifying, relieving cough and asthma. It is used in treating fever, dryness and thirst, red eyes, laryngeal paralysis, jaundice, whooping cough, asthma, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, canker sores, and swelling.

 (1) For the treatment of inflammation of liver fire, red eyes, swelling and pain, and children’s whooping cough, this product can be used alone to steam and drink with water; for the treatment of chronic bronchitis in the elderly, it can also be used in combination with white flowering snake’s tongue grass and flat groundwood. In addition, it is also reported to have a certain curative effect on jaundice infectious hepatitis.

(2) There are many animal bile for medicinal use, such as duck bill for whooping cough; sheep bile for tuberculosis; snake bile for eye diseases and rheumatic pain; bear bile for liver fever and eye redness, fever, and convulsions. However, mackerel bile is toxic and should not be taken.

Identification method:

According to thin-layer chromatography, 2 μl of the test solution and 2 μl of the control solution of porcine deoxycholic acid under [Content determination] were taken up and spotted on the same silica gel G thin-layer plate, and the upper layer of newly prepared isooctane-ethyl ether-glacial acetic acid-n-butanol-water (10:5:5:3:1) was used as the unfolding agent. The spots were colored and examined under daylight and UV light (365nm), respectively. In the chromatogram of the test article, the spots of the same color or fluorescent spots were shown at the corresponding positions of the chromatogram of the control article.
