Description of Vitamin B12
Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B 12. Vitamin B 12 is the “generic descriptor” name for any vitamers of vitamin B 12. Because humans and animals can convert cyanocobalamin to any one of the active vitamin B 12 compounds, by definition this makes cyanocobalamin itself a form (or vitamer) of B 12.

What is Vitamin B12？
With the progress of science and technology and the development of society, chemical products have invariably permeated our daily lives, in medicine, food, cosmetics, electronics, industry, and other areas, becoming an essential part of our lives. One such product is Vitamin B12 which has developed particularly rapidly in recent years. Do you know about Vitamin B12?
The official answer:Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a polycyclic compound containing 3-valent cobalt, and the four reduced pyrrole rings are connected together into one large ring of goblin (similar to porphyrin), which is the only vitamin containing metal elements. Vitamin B12 is a red crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless, slightly soluble in water and ethanol, most stable under weak acid conditions at pH 4.5~5.0, decomposed in strong acid (pH<2) or alkaline solution, and can be damaged to some extent by heat. Higher plants and animals cannot manufacture vitamin B12, and all vitamin B12 in nature is synthesized by microorganisms. Vitamin B12 is the only vitamin that requires the help of an intestinal secretion (endogenous factor) to be absorbed and is involved in the production of bone marrow red blood cells, preventing pernicious anemia and preventing damage to the nerves of the brain.
What’s the application of Vitamin B12?
The prototype of the family of naturally occurring cobalt ligand compounds is called cobalamin-like. The analogs of vitamin B12 differ only in the beta-ligand of cobalt and are called cobalamin. It is almost entirely synthesized by bacteria. Dietary sources include fish, meat, liver, and dairy productsChemicalbook; plants have little or no cobalamin. The body converts it into biologically active forms, methylcobalamin, and cobalamin, which act as enzyme cofactors. Severe deficiency may lead to megaloblastic anemia and/or neurological dysfunction.
