Produced by the distillation reaction of pure zinc and bromine, or by the reaction of zinc oxide and hydrobromic acid. Used as a post-treatment agent for rayon. Also used in pharmaceutical and photographic applications. Highly absorbent and easily deteriorates in contact with water or air.
