Ammonium ferric citrate Chemical nature
Ferric ammonium citrate is also called ferric ammonium citrate. There are two kinds of brown and green. It has odorless, salty and iron smell. It is very easy to absorb moisture. It can be reduced to ferrous salt due to light, even less in solution. Stable, easily soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether, the aqueous solution is neutral, and green is easier to be reduced when exposed to light than brown. Ferric ammonium citrate is a photochemically sensitive substance, and green is more sensitive to light than brown.
Ammonium ferric citrate Usage
Used in the pharmaceutical industry
Used in the photographic industry and the pharmaceutical industry
Bacterial culture medium, aluminum measurement, photography, blue printing, blood enrichment, etc.
The brown product is used as a blood tonic to treat iron deficiency anemia; it can be used as a food additive with an iron content of 16.5%-21.2%. Both brown and green products are chemically sensitive substances, and green products are more sensitive to light than brown products. Paper coated with green ferric ammonium citrate and red blood salt (potassium ferricyanide) is called blue printing paper. During exposure, the trivalent iron in citrate is originally divalent, and it will produce Teng’s blue when it meets with water, so the light-receiving part turns blue, and the unlighted part remains white, and a blue background white line pattern can be obtained.
Ferric ammonium citrate is an excellent nutrient fortifier. It can be used as a blood tonic and treat iron deficiency anemia. It is widely used in food additives, medicine and many other fields. The brown scaly ferric ammonium citrate has a higher iron content, while the green scaly ferric ammonium citrate has a lower iron content.
Nutritional supplements (iron fortifiers). Used for dairy products and wheat flour for bread. Also used as an anti-caking agent.
