Hydroquinone application
White needle crystal. Soluble in alcohol and ether, soluble in water, slightly soluble in benzene. When it is seen in the air, it is easy to turn into light red. The aqueous solution can oxidize and turn brown in the air.
Combustible in case of fire or high heat. Reacts with strong oxidants. Toxic gas is liberated by high heat. Hydroquinone is a weak acid. Reacts with most oxidants to convert to o-benzoquinone and p-benzoquinone.
Hydroquinone has three crystal forms: a, β and γ. Type a is triangular needle-shaped or diamond-shaped crystal, which is crystallized from water and stable. The Lu type is a triangular crystal, which is crystallized from methanol and is unstable.

Hydroquinone use
In the field of water treatment, hydroquinone is added to the hot water and cooling water of the closed-circuit heating and cooling system, which can inhibit the corrosion of the metal on the water side. Hydroquinone is used as an oxygen scavenger for boiler water. Hydroquinone is added to the boiler water during preheating to remove oxygen to remove residual dissolved oxygen.
Hydroquinone Storage
Preserved in tight, light-resistant containers at room temperature.
