As an effective photoinitiator for the polymerisation of acrylonitrile (AN), the rate of polymerisation is proportional to the 1.62nd power of AN concentration and the 0.62nd power of DMT concentration. It is commonly used as an accelerator, in addition to being used in the synthesis of unsaturated polyesters, as an additive to adhesives, etc.A tertiary amine that can undergo iron-catalyzed oxidative C-C coupling with phenylethynyl and benzamide in the presence of di-tert-butyl peroxide to form N,4-dimethyl-N-(3-phenylprop-2-ynyl)benzylamine and N-((methyl(p-tolyl)amino)methyl)benzamide, respectively.
